Q. How many sessions will I need?

A. Number of sessions needed varies depending on the individual. Typically clients complete 10 (minimum recommended number of sessions to see permanent results) to 30 extended sessions. It is important to try and complete the first 5 or 6 sessions within 2-5 days. This helps prevent the old neuro-pathways from regaining dominancy. All remaining sessions may be scheduled over a one year time period. However, the most efficient and effective way to train for optimal results is through intensives.

Q. Is training permanent or are followup sessions required?

A. Yes, training is permanent and most effective when sessions are completed as intensives. When you train a muscle, if not used afterwards, it will return to its initial weaker state. The brain is different and does not require continued training to maintain the new, more balanced neuro-pathways. In fact, your brain prefers a state of homeostasis. After it has been trained to a more balanced state, it is more difficult to get out of balance from additional stress or trauma. Follow up or additional sessions are beneficial if one seeks to fine tune balance in different areas of their brain, achieving a superior sense of balance and harmony.

Q. Are there any risks or negative side-effects?

A. The process itself is non-invasive and painless. There is nothing going into your body or brain... no electricity or drugs of any kind. The change comes from the sound frequencies of your own brain waves being played back to you through earphones. So the process itself is completely pain free.
After your sessions you may find yourself tired for a few days, especially if you hadn't been sleeping well and were sleep deprived. This is simply your body's reaction to stress and is a temporary process of recovering.

Also, you may find a decreased desire for depressants, drugs or stimulants (alcohol, caffeine, sugar, tobacco, etc.) For most, this is a positive side affect, but that all depends on ones desired lifestyle.

Q. How long is each session?

A. Each session typically takes about an hour and forty-five minutes. Most of the time is spent doing the relaxing brain balancing exercises, while the rest of the time is spent moving electrodes, setting computer exercises, and talking with your practitioner.

Q. How should I prepare for my sessions?

A. Be sure to drink plenty of water before, during, and afterwards. Consuming adequate amounts of protein is also extremely important to support optimal neuro-pathway repair. In addition, you may benefit from getting extra rest.

It is also important to refrain from alcohol, drugs, or tobacco use 3 days prior to your sessions and while training. These all contain neuro-toxins that interfere with the repair process of the new neuro-pathways being formed in training sessions. If this is not possible, stop during the training.

Q. What should I expect for results?

A. Results vary from person to person. It depends on how balanced or imbalanced you are coming into your first session, your desired results, etc. Many experience a positive change within the first few sessions. For some, it's their spouse or close loved ones who first see the change in the individual. In general, people express a reduction in stress and anxiety with an increased sense of joy, calmness, relaxation, and focus.

Q. Is there anyone it won't work for?

A. Brain State Conditioning™ can work for anyone. The only clients it can't work for are those who have been prescribed and are taking beta-blockers. Beta-blockers are often prescribed for heart conditions. If this applies to you, please speak with your physician about alternative medications.

Q. Can Brain State Conditioning™ help with performance?
(ex: athletics, academics, work)?

A. Yes. People often experience better focus, creativity, and increased energy. One’s mind-body connection is also strengthened or clarified. Reduced anxiety, even greater intuition is typically noticed. Golfers often experience decreased golf scores. In addition, many athletes find themselves being able to easily push through the pain of their activity, thus allowing their bodies to reach higher levels of performance.

Q. Is the process confidential?

A. Completely. NeuroTechnologies of the Treasure Coast’s process does not require any form of talk therapy to be effective. What you wish to share with your practitioner is on your terms and always confidential.
